LSI Logic Joins The
SPIRIT Consortium as
New Steering Committee Member
SAN JOSE, Feb. 6, 2006 - The SPIRIT Consortium, a global organization focused on establishing multi-faceted IP/tool integration standards that drive sustainable growth in electronic design, today announced that LSI Logic has joined as the first new Steering Committee member since The Consortium was organized. LSI joins the original six steering committee members--ARM, Cadence, Mentor Graphics, Philips, ST Microelectronics, and Synopsys.
The membership of The SPIRIT Consortium includes more than 40 industry-leading EDA, IP providers and systems integrators. The Steering Committee ensures that The Consortium effectively drives the creation and adoption of standards for configuring, integrating, and verifying IP. The Steering Committee members vote on all decisions affecting the direction and provision of deliverables from The Consortium. All Consortium members are committed to making their IP and IP tools interoperable through the adoption and integration of The SPIRIT Consortium specifications.
"We're excited to have LSI Logic join The SPIRIT Consortium as a Steering Committee member. LSI pioneered system-on-a-chip integration with its innovations in IP-based design," said Ralph von Vignau, chair of The SPIRIT Consortium. "Their IP experience will be invaluable to The SPIRIT Consortium initiative as we continue to drive the evolution and adoption of The SPIRIT Consortium specifications."
"As the industry matures, intellectual property will increase in importance. Customers will expect more than 80% of the total system to come from their silicon provider in the form of market-specific IP solutions," said Jeff Richardson, executive vice president of custom solutions, LSI Logic. "The SPIRIT Consortium enables the creation of IP and tools for siliconto-systems providers, such as LSI, that allow us to offer flexible market-focused IP solutions that are highly differentiating to the system-on-a-chip customer."
