The Core Engineering
Team of The SPIRIT Consortium Grows and Reviewing Membership Expands
Significantly
-- Cisco and MataiTech become Contributing Members; Samsung and Nokia join as Reviewing Members along with nine supply-chain companies --
SAN DIEGO (Design Automation Conference), June 4, 2007 – The SPIRIT Consortium™, a global non-profit organization focused on establishing multi-faceted IP/tool integration standards that drive sustainable growth in electronic design, today announced the addition of new engineering resources that will contribute to further advancement of The SPIRIT Consortium specifications.
Network internet giant Cisco and a lead supplier of hardware/software co-development tools MataiTech LLC have joined The Consortium as Contributing Members. As such, they will dedicate engineering resources to the organization’s technical working groups. The addition of these two companies brings The Consortium’s contributing membership to 17. Other members include ARM, Cadence, CoWare, Denali, Freescale, Infineon, LSI, Magillem, Mentor Graphics, MIPS, NXP, Sonics, ST Microelectronics, Synopsys and Texas Instruments.
Cisco will be participating in the new working group formed by The Consortium to produce a human-readable standard format for describing registers, including structure, function, and relationships, as well as access semantics. (See “The SPIRIT Consortium Accepts SystemRDL Donation from Denali” announcement dated May 21.)
MataiTech states its products are based entirely on the IP-XACT™ specification, which addresses support for the integrated multi-vendor RTL design and verification flow. “MataiTech’s engineering team and our IP-XACT Assured linting, editing, and semantic checking tools help to verify that new releases of the specification do not contradict themselves and we can verify that published examples adhere to the standard,” said Rob Fleck, principle, Product Marketing, MataiTech LLC. “Being a Contributing Member allows us to help develop the specification to meet the needs of The SPIRIT Consortium community and the industry at large.”
The high quality IP-XACT specification enables documentation of IP using XML meta-data and facilitates tool flow integration by providing an API for access to design meta-data descriptions of complete system designs. The Consortium tunes the specifications it delivers to the requirements of the industry. Contributing Members of The Consortium are committed to automating the integration of their IP and tools as well as enabling verifiably consistent design-flows through use of The SPIRIT Consortium specifications.
New Reviewing Members include Atmel, ChipEDA ,Cofluent Design, CriticalBlue, DOCEA Power, Emulex, Nokia, nSysDesign Systems, Samsung, Satin IP Technologies, and Silistix. Reviewing members get early access to The SPIRIT Consortium specifications and help validate the technology on commercial tools before public release.
“This is an exciting time to be associated with The SPIRIT Consortium,” said Ralph von Vignau, president, The SPIRIT Consortium. “By allowing Contributing Members to supply technology and engineering resource to advance the IP-XACT specification, as well as our new investment into human-readable formats, we help ensure efficiency and rapid adoption of our specifications. This benefits the market by allowing IP reuse in designs and multi-vendor design flows. We are pleased to see increasing interest in our organization and in the adoption of our deliverables.”
